Finalist – Bolivia: Jovenes de Uspha-Uspha
The project aims to establish an online network for the community Uspha-Uspha. Initially it will be used to promote activities led by youths from the community within the sports and arts program of Proyecto Horizonte. This program is one of our most popular activities, primarily aiming to reduce social insecurity issues such as gang related violence and crime. In time we aim to establish a digital photo/video and story-telling forum where the community can share information about upcoming and past activities, life in Uspha-Uspha and to connect and interact with other communities worldwide.
Finalist – Shooting Bolivia from Wikimedia Commons
Multimedia material of Bolivia within Wikimedia Commons are few. There are no images, audios or videos of historical places or towns and cities. In Bolivia, there are several groups of people interested in multimedia who share their work through social media, but these photos are not shared under a free license. The most frequent reason is that they do not know how to use these type of licenses. The idea is to contact as many of these groups throughout Bolivia and conduct training workshops and awareness to share some of their materials in Wikimedia Commons.
Bolivia: Exteme Tarija
A project that shows the need to form active communities that can promote its heritage, and based on the participation of the community members in the town of Tarija. Tourism development affects the promotion of essential values of our cultural heritage, as well as promoting the community participation in cyberspace and the digital world.
Bolivia: Revaluation of the Yuracaré Language
The language of the Yurakaré culture is a language that has survived to this day. However, contact with the Castilian language has been an influence on the speakers, the language, and culture. Currently the Yurakaré language is considered to be endangered. Thus, we propose to strengthen the Yurakaré identity and oral tradition through the spread of its language with young people exploring new technologies that recently reached the community.
Bolivia: Digitizing the Besiro Language
The Besiro language is endangered and that is why we want to digitize the language through audio, photography, video to create records, data and supporting material for teaching in the education system. We will work in a community with 15 families, of which, 5 of them speak the language but who are elderly. We expect to be in social networks so that young people can use the Besiro language.
Bolivia: Web 2.0 for Women's Rights
The city of El Alto is characterized for its maintenance of a organizational syndicalist structure dominated mostly by men, and few women have managed to take leadership roles in these structures. However, women from El Alto have all the qualities to enter these digital spaces. We propose to work with adolescent women – young people from three schools and teach the use of web 2.0 technologies to the benefit of the city of El Alto.
Bolivia: Cyber Empowerment of Aymara Youth and Teachers
Jaqi Aru is a group of young Aymara internet users, impacted by Global Voices since 2009. We have been experiencing challenging activities regarding the use of our language and citizen media. Following up on this mission, we want to share our experiences on the web with our brothers and sisters, young people and teachers in three rural Aymara communities (Achacachi, Batallas, Pucarani) in order to prepare for the arrival of the Tupac Katari satel
Bolivia: Visibility of the First Nation Yampara through Social Networks

Bolivia: Youth Voices – Lecos and Tacanas
The youth of indigenous communities, are relegated to many public spaces, and of course ICT is no exception, considering indigenous youth in the web 2.0, social networking, is also noticeable absence so this initiative is part of the need to promote digital inclusion as well as empower and strengthen the use of their native language as well as the exercise of leadership.
Bolivia: Telling the History in Our Own Words
In Bolivia, there are five largest organizations representing indigenous. Despite the rich history of these organizations in their struggle for inclusion in the public life, there are few documents that tell their story, neither is the voice of the people themselves and most have only parts and not the whole story. Therefore, we propose a workshop on free software to create documents and workshops using digital media for publication.
