Talented Women Bloggers Present Abroad

A pair of talented women bloggers from the Rising Voices community were invited to present their work at international conferences. Catalina Restrepo presented at a BarCamp in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and Cristina Quisbert was awarded the International Activist Scholarship to attend BlogHer '09. Nominations for the 2010 version of the scholarship are now being accepted.

Cristina Quisbert of the Voces Bolivianas project was invited to this year's BlogHer conference in Chicago as one of five recipients of the International Activist Scholarship. While she was impressed with the free wi-fi in the hotel, she noted that it was much more difficult to find internet access without a costly laptop.

Voces Bolivianas, the Rising Voices grantee from Bolivia, has gone international. They have started operation in USA, where one of the biggest Bolivian diaspora communities is located. On July 12, six participants took part in the first workshop in Virginia to learn about blogs and create their own blogs.

The members of Voces Bolivianas (Bolivian Voices) are delighted to win an honorary mention in the 2009 Prix Ars Electronica awards. This international recognition will certainly boost their enthusiasm towards blogging. They congratulated the Hiperbarrio team for winning the Golden Nica in the digital communication category at the same event.
