Rising Voices grantee Serbian Web Journalism School continued to impart interesting and innovative digital media trainings to budding web journalists of Serbia. Their second batch of participants completed their final tests with a practical assignment - covering the 37th FEST (film festival) in Belgrade.

Web journalism is more than just publishing some news on the web. The journalists have a wider scope to attract interest of the readers and add real value to their works by using external hyperlinks, graphs, illustrations, images, audio and video. The Rising Voices Grantee the Serbian Web Journalism School is teaching several such skills to the students.

The Serbian Web Journalism School will be introducing new online elements to its teaching curriculum in early 2009. The classes are progressing well and the students have learned how to work creatively with photos online and rss feeds among other things.

Ljubisa Bojic and the Serbian Journalist Association are providing training to experienced and novice journalists in New Media and Social Web in an web journalism school in Belgrade, Serbia. The idea is that these journalists will learn to use new technologies like blog, photo and video blogging, podcasts etc. and apply them in their everyday work creating future trends in Serbian journalism. Rising Voices has provided micro-grant to support the outreach work from the second round of workshops.

Rising Voices has provided funding to support the outreach work of the Serbian Web Journalism School. Founded earlier this year in Belgrade by Serbian citizen media enthusiast and veteran blogger, Ljubisa Bojic, the Serbian Web Journalism School gathers local new media experts like Danica Radovanovic and Lidija Kujundzic to teach the fundamentals of citizen media to traditional journalists and everyday Serbians.
