Call for Applications for Microgrants Now Closed

Thank you to all those who have submitted a proposal for Rising Voices' microgrant funding for citizen media outreach projects. Applications are now closed. Unfortunately, we cannot extend any deadlines or accept any additional applications. We hope to announce winners by mid-March.

Rising Voices started its journey more than three and a half years ago and its community of grantees, participants, applicants, readers, well-wishers have grown gradually. The community mailing list has now over a thousand members. In December, 2010 we asked our readers and community members what they have found valuable about Rising Voices over these past several years, and what other resources they would like to see incorporated into Rising Voices. Here is the summary of the key findings.

Rising Voices Seeks Micro-Grant Proposals for Citizen Media Outreach

Rising Voices, the outreach arm of Global Voices, is now accepting project proposals for microgrant funding of up to $4,000 USD for citizen media outreach projects. Applications are due no later than Friday, February 4, 2011.

Rising Voices is pleased to be partnering with CIS and HIVOS to organize the third regional workshop for the "Digital Natives with a Cause?' project to take place in Santiago, Chile on February 8-10, 2011. We are now accepting applications for participants from Latin America and the Caribbean. Deadline is January 4, 2011.

As one of the participants of the “Exploring Taboos” project, Awadalla has been documenting these experiences in his blog A Rebel with a Cause, where he wrote about discussions about the topic of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) with his students.
