Voces Bolivianas Expands To USA

Voces Bolivianas, the Rising Voices grantee from Bolivia, has gone international. They have started operation in USA, where one of the biggest Bolivian diaspora communities is located. On July 12, six participants took part in the first workshop in Virginia to learn about blogs and create their own blogs.

FOKO: The Second Barcamp In Madagascar

On the 4th of July FOKO arranged a gathering of the Malagasy blogging community and the professional journalists to discuss how citizen media can contribute to a more complete coverage of the recent political crisis in Madagascar. The meeting was organized according to the format of a Barcamp and the FOKO bloggers wrote about the event.

Abidjan Blog Camps Launches ‘Blog Your Holidays’ Campaign

Rising Voices grantee Abidjan Blog Camps has recently launched a blog outreach campaign targeting the teenagers from high schools of Ivory Coast. The 'blog your holidays' workshop will be held for two weeks. In the first week the students will receive training on citizen journalism and how to blog. On the second week they will search materials for their posts which will be published simultaneously in their own blogs and the project blog.

Ceasefire Liberia: Telling Their Stories And Interacting

The Ceasefire Liberia website has become a place "where many Liberians go — to tell their stories — in their own voices with each other. It is also an outstanding resource for people outside the community to learn more about the real struggles of a 21st-century immigrant or refugee", tells the project leader Ruthie Ackerman.
